This morning, I attended the West Maricopa Association of Realtors (WeMAR) Installation Breakfast. This is an annual event to celebrate the accomplishments of the past year and to look forward to the next year.
I was previlidged to be among the leadership that has not only lead WeMAR and those that will be leading it, but also with many from the valley. The out-going President Jan Leighton has done an excellent job this past year. WeMAR has taken great strides this year in growth. Education and membership focus were the theme of the year.
Laura Palmer is our current President, and like Jan, I’ve had a couple of discussions with her and feel that we will be continuing in a direction of growth. During her inaugural speech, the general consensus of the room is that WeMAR will be in good hands for another year, despite a tough economy ahead of us.
While at the meeting, I found myself sitting with leadership from the Southeast Valley Regional Association of Realtors (SEVRAR), which was a treat for me, since there location is so far from where I work most often it’s hard to speak with those from that part of the valley. I sat with Dee Kepp, president-elect and John Stih, CEO as well as Bob Bemis of ARMLS. Our discussions were around the vast size of the valley, data sharing (remember I’m a Database person so data is always on my mind) and the optimistic future we hold for Real Estate in the valley and state wide.
Needless to say, after spending time with such talented and driven professionals, I’m exited about the next year and the direction we’re all going and how that’s going to help our clients. Keep an eye out for updates.
