November 2008 ARMLS Committee Meeting Highlights

Just a couple of weeks ago, the ARMLS Committee had their monthly meeting, this was the transition meeting, or the meeting where new terms started and over all, went pretty well.  I say that because I was chairman and to say otherwise would only reflect negatively on me.

We started off with introductions and committee charters to help everyone start off on the right foot with knowing each other and expectations.

This month, there were no fine appeals to be heard, which was a nice surprise.

Matt with SupraKey gave a report on the recent activities around the SupraKey and the discussion to the new ActiveKey that GE has come up with.  Recently I learned that Tucson Association of Realtors adopted this new technology and that other boards are using it with success and this is one that I would support us moving to.  The main benefit that I see is that you get near-real time data, instead of waiting for the batch update each night, within a couple of minutes of someone entering your listing, you will get notified (if configured that way).  I like to know who is in a listing and be able to follow-up in a more timely manner with other agents.

We currently have a task force to build some guidelines around terms used in ARMLS, words such as bedrooms and pre-forclosure have different meanings to different people and the task force is building a reference for agents to use.  They will be making a report during the next meeting.

We will also be setting up a new task force around the Statistics provided by ARMLS, there have been discussions in the past about the reports are not very clear and don’t add real value to the members or the public.  This task force will be assigned the job to create new and meaningful reports.

Our next meeting is scheduled for January, we won’t be meeting in December due to the holidays.
