Memorial Day is the day we take time to remember and honor those that have died protecting our country, our rights and our way of life. We often spend the time with family and friends and try to not think about the fact that we have this day came at the expense of men and women that have fought for our beliefs and rights in the 200+ years of the history of our country.
The mere fact that I am able to write what I want when I want on this blog is a result of others. Our First Amendment rights grant me the privilege to do that. Which is often missing from other countries and governments. The fact that I can go out with other Realtors and hearing them expressing the exact opposite opinion on a topic from someone across the tables, and they are okay with that, is the ultimate testament to our way of life.
I have had the privilege of knowing many veterans and I believe that each of them are heroes. I have also known many civil servants (police officers, firefighters, paramedics and others) and I have to be grateful that they do what they do to also insure our way of life. Everyone of us contributes to the success and advancement of our country and helps make it the best country to live in and be a citizen of.
Today, I just want you to take a moment to reflect upon history of our country, and successes and the struggles that we have made to be where we are right now. Then give pause to those that helped us to get where we are. Happy Memorial Day!
