Most homeowners are very careful not to waste energy by turning on too many lights or leaving lights on in rooms that are not being used. However, when you are trying to sell your home, you might need to re-think your strategy of turning off lights when they aren’t in use.

When selling your house is your primary goal, taking steps to ensure that your home looks as appealing as possible to buyers might be more important than trying to save a few dollars on your electricity bill. This means turning on most, or even all, of the lights when potential purchasers are touring your home.

By turning on your exterior lights, you are making it easy for visitors to see your home as clearly as possible. Additionally, by turning on porch lights and garage lights, you can put potential buyers’ minds at rest in terms of concerns about safe accessibility to the home after dark.
