FlexMLS Review – Copying a Listing

Yesterday I posted that I had issues creating and posting a new listing.  This was a one time deal and haven’t had the opportunity to re-try since then.  Tonight I went down a different track.  I took an old listing and copied it.  Boy, this was making life easier.  It self populated a lot of the fields and only required time for me to verify the different values.  Plug in the directions, remarks and bonus information and within 20 minutes, I was able to save and post the listing to the test area.

This tells me that I probably ran into those occasional distributed computing issues that can occur and often reminds me to save my work as I go.  This is a lesson that I am often re-taught when I get in a hurry.  So those that will be transitioning to FlexMLS, a word of advise, always save your work from time to time.  I had ZipForms crash on me after I entered 3 pages of data tonight, wasn’t fun to repeat.

Okay, so back to the FlexMLS.  One nice thing that I like about the new system is that you will print a form to fill out with the client from within the FlexMLS system, and that form (wait for it, wait for it), will follow in the same order as the data entry screen.  Yea, I know, I over hyped that, but it is nice not having to jump around so much.  FlexMLS also did a nice job of breaking up the entry into several screens instead of just 2 making entry more logical.  When errors in entry are reported, it not only provides the list of errors, but will highlight them and on their screen, will often be the only fields you will see to correct (easy to fix and move on).

Once that is done, you have the opportunity to do some additional work (which checks to let you know you have done them):

You can see that you can not only work with the listing info and supplemental (long description), but you can verify map location (yea!), access the SupraKey system to update it.  Add photos (unlimited if you haven’t heard), additional documents, videos and virtual tour.  Not to mention status changes as expected.  You have open house and new home tour options.

There you go, a very short, quick and dirty overview of the FlexMLS add (copy) a listing function.

  • Craig, we’re working on auto-save now, because you should never lose more than a minute of work.

One thing I thought I’d mention for other readers is that there is an option during listing entry to only show the remaining required fields, which I think is a great way to speed the entry process.

  • Michael,
That’s great, an auto-save would be a great feature to add. And thanks for pointing out the feature just to show the remaining required fields, that will be a great time-saver.
