5 Things to do before you sell your Home

1. Finish projects that you have started on the house When buyers see projects that are completed, they start to speculate.  Thoughts that cross their minds What’s going on?  Did they run out of money?  Did they cut corners? Think about buying a care, would you be happy with a car that they started putting a sunroof in but haven’t quite finished?  Probably not, or at least you would want to get a discount if you did.

2. Do repairs This is another flag that buyers raise very quickly.  They become concerned that you didn’t take care of the home.  Don’t give them any distractions from wanting to move into your home right now.  Finish all repairs and switch the air filters.  Give the buyers nothing but confidence that they are buying a quality product.

3. Clean/De-Clutter This goes with my staging theme.  Present a home that is open and airy, provides a feeling of comfort.  Don’t show off the family with pictures on the walls, start packing away things that are important or specific to you so that is one less thing you have to do before moving.

4. Do a little market research Your agent will do this for you, but it is good to have some knowledge and understanding of what is going on with homes in your neighborhood.  This will help that conversation with your agent on what price will be good.

5. Find a good Realtor that you are compatible with Chances are you know a Realtor already or know someone that does.  You want to find someone that you feel comfortable with.  Remember that they are going to help you sell one of the biggest assets you  have, it’s important that you work well together.  Ask them how they work, their past success and challenges and check references.  This is a big decision.

Doing these things will help your selling process go smoother and with a higher sales price than just calling an agent and having your home listed.
